Jumpers: THE STORY OF A YOUNG SHOWJUMPER DEFYING THE ODDS

KORIMEDIA is proud to be executive producing NAOMI SEDGWICK’S short documentary “JUMPERS,” a 16-minute documentary film about rising equestrian athlete SKYLAR WIREMAN, who’s defying the odds in a sport where wealth often determines success. Skylar proves that her dreams are possible through a combination of hard work, talent, and her bond with her horse, Tornado. Filmed over the course of two years and three different countries, “Jumpers” captures what it means for a young athlete to chase her Olympic dreams and how much she is willing to sacrifice in order to make it. The short film is a proof of concept for an expanded feature-length documentary, with a planned release to align with the LA 2028 Olympics.

Exploring what it means to keep pursuing a dream despite barriers of access and privilege is of personal interest to director Naomi Sedgwick.

“I was once a competitive show jumper with Olympic dreams of my own, until I was priced out of the sport,” Sedgwick explains. “Years later, I began asking what it looks like to never say no to your dreams - a question that ultimately became the foundation for ‘Jumpers.’ That question led me to Skylar Wireman, an equestrian whose talent was clear, but it was her ambition and resilience that really inspired me. From the first day I met her, I knew her story was worth telling, and the following weekend I started filming.”

The making of the short film also reflects the persistence and community support required to complete an ambitious goal. The production relied in large part on donations from the equestrian community, a grassroots effort that also served to engender continuing excitement in anticipation of the film’s release, as well as for the subsequent documentary feature.

“Jumpers” is in its final editing stage and will be shown at upcoming festivals before its wider release. In the meantime, please visit the film’s website for more information about the project and the team behind it and follow the film’s Instagram to stay up-to-date with all the latest news.
